sophication

Sophie announced that she wanted to enter something in the fair this year. So we found a category in which she could compete — A flower arrangement in a teacup. 

So Sophie and I went to the Goodwill to buy a pretty teacup and we walked through the neighborhood and picked one flower out of each neighbor’s yard (It is not as terrible as it sounds).

This is the final product. She did not win, but I think that was due to the untrue belief that she got too much adult help. She did it herself and hers was the best (I can say that objectively). I mean, a bunch of roses got a ribbon, what’s that about?

I don’t have any pictures right now, that’s Shad’s job, he has the computer and fast internet connection. But, as the Mommy, I have stories.

Sophie is getting so big. She can now ride her bike without training wheels. She rides around and around the driveway. I remember doing the same thing for hours, it’s a five year old’s first taste of freedom, and she shows no signs of giving it up.
