Day at the Beach

I took sophie to the beach on Saturday, while Becky stayed home and played with Lillie. It was fun for Sophie and I to get out for a little quality time by ourselves, and it was cold and wet enough that I’m not sure Becky would have enjoyed herself very much anyway…

We spent some time trying to fly the Kite that Sophie made from part of a gift-bag. At the first beach we went to there wasn’t quite enough wind, so Sophie ran like mad trying to get it up in the air. Later in the day we did manage to get it up for a while, but it took a lot of wind.

We also spent a lot of the morning collecting sea-shells and playing in the sand

We got to go to Mo’s for some clam-chowder for lunch

We played on the docks and checked out all the fishing boats

And we ended the day driving north to check out some tidepools up the coast a ways.  Along the way we stopped and saw some sea-lions playing in the surf. Sophie really loved the tide-pools, we saw sea anemones, a couple little little fish, sea-stars, barnacles, mussels, and lots of seaweed. No hermit crabs which was a bit of a disappointment, but still lots of great stuff. What a fun day
